Tennis Carnival Logo
The 2006 Tennis Carnival was held at Tyson Family Tennis Center Friday May 12, 2006 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Approximately 200 players--beginners to seasoned--families, individuals, lots of children—signed in to participate in free clinics and enjoy the festivities. Deidra Dunn, City Tennis Director, had spare racquets available and tons of teaching balls!
06 Carnival Kiddie PoolThe featured courts were in the “Kid Zone!” For the smaller children racquets were provided with nets instead of strings to fish plastic ducks out of a small wading pool.
All activities were targeted at learning tennis skills and develop hand-eye coordination—hit tennis balls inside a hoola hoop, toss a ball into buckets at varied distances—and earn tickets.06 Carnival - FHS Team The tickets were then redeemed for valuable prizes! One court had prizes (T-shirts, wrist bands, water jugs, etc.) spread all over the court. The kids were fed balls and won any items they hit. Among LOTS of others, the Farragut tennis team volunteered to help the kids with these games!
To keep up their strength between activities, participants and volunteer staff enjoyed pizza, cotton candy, popcorn, and sno-cones!!
06 Carnival - Kaplan A good time was had by both participants and workers. Stayed tuned to find out when next year's carnival will take place!
